Retirement Home Lake Macquarie | About Catalina Village

Live in your dream retirement home within a vibrant retirement community of like-minded people

In 2015, leading architectural, landscape design and engineering firms were engaged to design and build a landmark Retirement Village. A 12-hectare site in Cooranbong near Morisset in west Lake Macquarie was acquired and soon after.

A six-stage development, we are now excited to be completing the construction of Stage 3 with Stage 4 now selling. Our state-of-the-art Community Centre now showcases an onsite cafe, resident-managed bar, poolroom, dining and lounge areas, communal library, fireplace for those winter months, a 60-seat cinema, mini golf putt-putt course, and an expansive patio area for socialising. The Olympic-sized lawn bowls green is used often by our residents, and construction of our wellness centre with indoor pool, spa, gym and craft room is now underway.

If you’ve been considering retirement village living, we welcome you to view our two fully furnished display homes between 10am to 4pm on weekdays. We have completed homes available for occupation in January and March 2023.

Boyd McCallum

Director

With close to 30 years of local property development experience, Boyd brings a diverse range of professional skills to the Catalina project, most recently as the Principal and Director of the well-regarded multidisciplinary property consultancy, Global PDC Property & Development Consultants.

During this time, Boyd has led the conception and delivery of many large-scale development projects across Northern NSW in the Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Educational sectors. More recently, valuable sector experience was gained in Retirement Living and Aged Care, whilst leading a major Seniors Living Development project for one of Australia’s largest village owner/operators.

With specific expertise in site appraisal and acquisition, Boyd has overseen the creation of the Catalina village master plan and ensured all the Council planning and design requirements have been met while retaining the landmark village vision.

“I’m excited to be bringing a new standard of village to the Lake Macquarie region and assisting Residents to settle into their new homes.”

Stephen Murray

Director

As a qualified Accountant with a Diploma in Land Economics and a Certificate 4 in Building and Construction, Stephen’s academic background is impressively complemented with vast experience in the home building industry.

For 13 years, Stephen held senior managerial roles, including CFO/CEO at Clarendon Property Group, which was, at the time, NSW’s largest home builder (building approximately 20,000 homes over that period). In 2006 the time was right to sell Clarendon, creating the opportunity to embark on a personal career dream; building custom-designed premium homes.

Founded in 2008, Yarrum Designer Homes has expanded operations from the Hunter Valley to Newcastle. With a track record of high customer satisfaction and consistent growth, the company has received ongoing recognition at the highest levels with a range of impressive industry accolades.

Tracey

Tracey Palser

General Manager

As an experienced village and general manager, Tracey is acutely aware of the pivotal role that she and her staff play in the lives of the seniors who make up the Catalina community and both she and her staff work hard to meet all of their commitments to each resident, and then some.

Tracey came to village management some years ago via a career in community development, arts, culture and events management.

“I found that my organisation skills and my people skills were well suited to village management. I have now enjoyed 16 years in the retirement sector working across 10 different villages in Sydney before making the move to gorgeous Lake Macquarie. Whilst Catalina promotes independent living, we touch so many aspects of our residents lives. We maintain their homes, provide emergency medical support, facilitate friendships and social activity, and work with residents to create a caring, happy community,” says Tracey.

“No two days are ever the same and I feel very fortunate to be leading a wonderful team in this amazing new village and to positively affect the lives of our residents each day.”
